A Sweet Friendship

It is unusual that you see layouts from me but I decided to give myself a little practice. I need all I can get. I started off with a beautiful purple cardstock. I sprayed my background using glimmer sprays and a heart stencil. The splatters were made with ink and gesso. I layered a doily under the photo and added a mix of purchased and handmade flowers. Both the sentiment and stamped girls are from the Thinking Sweet Thoughts stamp set by Red Rubber Designs.

It is the First Thursday of the month, so that means we have New Releases at Red Rubber Designs! June is about scrapbooking at RRD. All month, the design team will be posting scrapbook ideas like – layouts, mini albums, art journals, and embellishment ideas etc…all using the newly released June stamp sets. Today, each member of the design team created a scrapbook page featuring the June Spotlight Stamp Set “Happily Grateful”.
We have a contest too – a Scavenger Hunt! How FUN! Each design team blog will have a different question about Red Rubber Designs and the answers can all be found in the Red Rubber Designs Store http://www.red-rubber-designs.com/
Once you find all 7 answers to the questions, email your answers to contest@RedRubberDesigns.com with your name and email address. Prima Build A Page Layout

I have decided to try and practice my layout skills every month by participating in the Prima Build A Page challenge. As layouts are not my thing I need all the practice I can get. This layout was made using Prima papers and flowers. I used some grungeboard flourishes, punches, stitching, sprays and stamps in the background by Red Rubber Designs.
In this layout I used pictures of my youngest son on the day he was born. Its terrible how the second child gets the shorter end of the stick when it comes to pictures and albums. Needless to say, I have a lot to catch up on. These challenges will provide the perfect opportunity.
Thank you again for stopping and a welcome to my newest followers.

‘H20 Baby’ Layout

One of my goals this year is to be involved in more challenges. This layout is the Prima Build a Page layout for March. Recently, I bought a very large pad of Prima paper and discontinued flowers at Tuesday Morning so I was able to participate in this challenge.

The picture is my youngest son from last summer. In the spirit of St. Patty’s Day I kept with the green theme and added some orange. I love my color sprays. I just ordered more so beware…some new bold colors will be emerging soon! I can’t help it. I am in love with color.       So, I put a banner in the lower left corner and I added some ribbon and metal embellishments throughout. And then I sprayed away! It is really quite fun.
I just want to thank everyone for your kind comments. It is encouraging to hear from everyone.

First, I apologize for the lighting. Its been rather dark and dreary outside for the past week. For this layout I used a picture of my firstborn. He will be four in two weeks.
I followed along on a Prima
Ustream class taught by Finnabair. Her style is unlike any I have ever seen and I am in love with it! It is colorful, crowded and facinating to my eye. You must check her out. I think I am starting to like this layout thing.
Happy Weekend,

Birthday Layout

25 Wednesday Jan 2012

Recently, my Best Friend celebrated her birthday. In an attempt to make a more personal gift I decided to try my hand at a layout. I am sure many of you are like me and can say there is at least one type of medium that you dislike or are afraid of trying. Mine is layouts. In fact, this is my first one. Perhaps it is all that blank space on the paper that intimidates me. Not only is it intimidating, but I hate wasteing all that space. I am a hoarder and a saver. Every project must have a meaningful purpose.
To get back to the layout, (because somehow I have digressed) it is mounted to a chipboard background to add strength. The background is Webster’s Pages. For the paints I used gesso and Lindy’s. Embellishments are a mix of all sorts of junk lying around my room.
Happy Wednesday!
Kate
