A Shiny Christmas: Mixed Media Christmas Tag

Shiny Christmas

As I sit in my favorite sunken in spot on the couch, I am watching a episode of Supernatural with the hubby and enjoying the shine of the Christmas lights twinkling through my house. I love the extra glow that the Christmas lights make when they reflect off the silver and gold mercury glass baubles on my tree. Isn’t Christmas the coziest time of the year?

Making Tag #8

Inspiration

Linda over at the Funkie Junkie is almost finished with her 12 Tags of Christmas while I am only on tag #8. You can See Linda’s #8 Tag HERE. I am taking my inspiration from her lovely embossed background,  pastel colors Broken China and Worn Lipstick as well as the metallic silver. Her amazing store, The Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring this challenge.

Making the Tag

Now that I look at it, it needs more foliage. But sometimes you don’t want to go back and re-due it.

So, I painted my background with Spun Sugar and Broken China Distress Paint. I embossed in silver over the embossed background. The stamped image is from Lynne Perrella and the ferns are from I Am Roses. The sentiment is also from a Lynne Perrella stamp set and the background was painted with worn lipstick Distress Paint. I added a bit of lace and Stickles to finish off the tag.

Thank you for stopping. And a Happy Tea Day for those of you joining Elizabeth.

The Book of Memories: A Mini Art Journal

A Book Of Memories

Memories…something that we never forget, as least, I hope that is the case. I have so many wonderful things that I want to remember. I wish our memories were like flash backs in the movies- vivid color, crisp images and and the ability to quote a conversation word for word. I for one can remember none of these things. But I recall the feelings and emotions associated with a certain event and that in itself is enough. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we all had books filled with our favorite experiences and memories, playing back the event as seen through our eyes? I really want someone to invent that!

Instead, you will have to settle for this mini book I made using some new stamps that I LOVE!

Creating the Mini Art Journal

As I mentioned above, these stamps are newly released by Seth Apter for PaperArtsy. They are so amazing! I feel as though I cannot say this enough. They are full of detail and are the perfect blend of grunge and vintage.

For the Cover, I stamped one of the main images, aged it, colored it and used chipboard to create a cover.

The inside pages were made using white card stock and covered with old book pages. I stained everything using Distress Stains to create an aged page. All the stamped images and background stamps are from Seth’s new sets. You can see my release project for Seth new stamps HERE. Also, I just completed a art journal centered around my all-time favorite drink, TEA! It is called Splashes of Tea.

Thanks for Stopping by!

I made this little mini featuring the Paper Boy stamp plate by Artistic Outpost. I also used the Serenity stamp plate for the embossed areas and the Ephemera Backgrounds for the background. My main image was colored using distress markers. Bits of paper, ephemera and lace were added to the cover and ribbon to the twine.
Sorry I was silent for a week. I was away and have needed a bit of extra recovery time. I appologize I haven’t made it to your blogs lately. I will catch up with you all as soon as I can. Have a great evening.

I have a lot of pictures to share today so grab a cup of tea and sit back. I started off using the Miss Moxie Matchbook Kit fromRed Rubber Designs. I used a ton of different stamps so I will do my best to list them all at the end of the post. I altered my kit, slightly. As you know, I have an addiction to paints, sprays, embossing, texture paste…all that fun stuff. You can check out the kit online to see exactly what the papers look like. Alright, on to the pics.

Contest Details:
It looks like one of Santa’s elves has been causing a little mischief in the workshops and craft areas of our Design Team members. Look closely at each project on the hop and you will see that said elf has left a little image of his jolly employer on one of the Design Team member’s creation. Find the picture of Santa then let us know where you found it (whose blog). Email your name and the name of the blog where you found the picture of Santa to contest@RedRubberDesigns.com . Every correct answer will be entered into a random draw for the Spotlight Stamp Holiday Wreath. Contest ends Sunday, August 5 at midnight (CDT). Good luck.
My Project for the hop is a Christmas Mini Album. I will fill the pages after Christmas but I have completed the covers. Our featured stamp for the blog hop is the Holiday Wreaths. I am a non-traditional kind of girl when it comes to colors. I love turquoise as you already know so why can’t I use it for my fav holiday?!! I silver embossed my bottom layer, gold embossed the stars on acetate and added some gold embossed berries and beautiful ribbon. I used background paper and paint sprays with a stencil and stamp for my background.

This is an altered brie cheese box. I used Lindy’s and paint to color the box. On top I added flowers and some vintage embellishments. The image is from Graphic 45’s Le Romantique. The side has lace underneath a layer of painted skeleton leaves and black pearls.

image

For the inside of the box I painted it turquoise and then decorated the underside of the lid with some more lace, gaffer tape, a butterfly, flower and a Le Romantique image.

image

Here is another closeup of the lid.

I made this little box to celebrate my first blog anniversary. I am a couple months late but better late than never. I just want to say thank you to my followers for your support, kind words and encouragement. I wish I could thank each one of you with a gift. So, if you like this little box and are interested in winning please read the following:

2. Please leave a comment on this post and tell me if you are a follower, what kind of art you enjoy seeing and what you might like to see in the coming year. This helps me to include variety of art in my posts.
3. The giveaway will run Feb 1st until Feb 14th. A winner will be picked at random from the comments.
4. I would appreciate it if you share this giveaway on your blog if you feel led too but this is not a requirement to be eligible for the giveaway.
Thank you so much for supporting me. Without it, I probably would have given up on this blog long ago.
Blessings,

Lots of pictures… but I wanted to show you this mini before I decided to fill it with pictures. I made this mini for a friend from college. I want to fill it with pictures of her precious baby girl who is 6 months old and still in the NICU. I understand how difficult this time is for her not being able to bring her baby home as we dealt with the same situation with our first son! It is such an emotional time and I wanted her to have pictures and some places to journal.
I used the Graphic 45 line ‘Once Upon A Springtime.’ Perfect for a baby mini. I used the paper collection and my Spellbinders dies to embellish. Thank you for looking! Hope you had a enjoyable Cyber Monday and that you didn’t spend too much money!

I finally got around to completing our vacation mini from this summer. I have been dying to use these beautiful papers by Graphic 45. My goal was to use the paper collection as the embellishments. I decided to make tags, pockets, flip outs and mini books to house pictures so that the paper would remain the focus. I used stamps, laces and trinkets from our trip as extra embelishments.
Do you see that awesome crab leg I used? I picked that up on the beach. The joints still work. The colors were beautiful from the salt water but after it dried out the colors softened.
Enjoy the pics. Thank you for stopping by this gorgeous, fall Monday!

I recently moved my scrap room from an overflowing corner of a room to my own very small room! I am estatic to have my own space. It is nice to be able to leave my table in the middle of a project and just close the door. I am in the middle of cleaning and I found a lot of embellishments still in their packaging. I tend to hoard the pretty things so since I am short on space I had to condense.

I remember seeing a YT video using Prima packaging to make a mini album by Steffogal. I took the packaging that I had been saving plus the new stuff that I dismembered from its embellies and set to work with my scrap bin.

I used some of my favorite embellies that I have been saving. I also tried to use some of the many flowers that I bought on clearance. Enjoy looking at all the pictures. Can you believe that I still have left over packaging? I think I have enough for another mini. Stay tuned!
