Whimsical
Whim-si-cal: Playfully quaint or fanciful, especially in an appealing and amusing way.
When I think whimsical, I think of that unusual piece of home decor that everyone looks at and can’t help but comment because…well, it’s unusual. Or my favorite mythical creatures: mermaids and unicorns. I think whimsical would be a great theme for an art journal. What do your think?
What do you picture when you picture whimsical?
Creating the Journal Layout
What I Used
Another layout in my Steampunk journal. My background is a beautiful stencil by Stencil Girl. I layered many paper flowers, chipboard gears, moss, string and gauze. Stamps are by Lost Coast Designs, Prima, Wendy Vecchi and Tim Holtz.

What a wonderful, complex and whimsical page you have created Kate, really lovely. Great colour scheme, too. Have a great day! Hugs, Valerie
Cool art piece!
What I love most about this is the many layers you built up on both spreads. The use of few colors helped focus the art you provided in these pieces. They are both incredibly beautiful. It’s ironic that I’ve never been into steampunk, but I was simply fascinated by how well you captured the genre with this entry.
Another great layout, Kate! Hmmm… I think of fairies and light spirited things like such. Thanks for sharing your altered art with us at A Vintage Journey this month. Hugs, Autumn
All that layering, the gorgeous colours, the eyes …. they all combine into two very beautiful pages!!
Ha, love it that you used the word whimsical in your comment on the card for my granddaughter 😉
A wonderful use of color, texture and the black and white images make it so beautiful !
I am thrilled about your pages – wouldn’t call them whimsical – just
classical BEAUTIES!!!
Happy weekend Kate!

Lovely gentle colour palette, and those dimensional layers are glorious (but how do you close the book?!) – and the eyes are riveting in capturing your attention.
