Beautiful Birthday

As you can see I am really getting into this card making stuff. It is mostly because I am becoming addicted to entering challenges. I suppose I will take advantage of it while it lasts. Who knows, maybe I will secure a large stash of cards to last me for a while.

The background paper is from the 7 Gypsies ‘Victoria’ collection. I found the dictionary paper at a clip art site and the tickets are from Miss Cutie Pie. The dressform is a free download from Art of Marie. I used some bling for the necklace and more 7 Gypsies paper for the dress. The butterfly is a cutout from Graphic 45 Le Romantique.  The flowers are from I Am Roses. I used a tiny bit of lace near the flowers and distressed everything in Rusty Hinge. I just bought the Paddington ‘Steampunk’ stamps from 7 Gypsies. I wanted to use them so I added the tape measure on the border paper at the bottom. Thanks for stopping by and have a Beautiful Day!

Spring Fever Card

I quite like the pinks, purples and greens  in this card. It definitely makes me want Spring even more. I started out by using a pink flowered background. I added some lace and green ribbon over a OTE scalloped die. I made a background out of a French newspaper stamp and distressed it in Rusty Hinge. The adorable Rabbits painting an Easter egg came from the Tim Holtz Salvage Stickers. I then added flowers with bling, buttons and a bow. Happy Early Spring!

Baking Cookies Card

I love this picture of the little girl baking cookies. There is even a plate of fresh baked cookies in the bottom left hand corner. I wish I could just reach out and grab one and pop it in my mouth.

The edges of the card and picture are all distressed and inked in Peeled Paint Distress by Ranger.  I sewed the picture to a strip of embossed and inked cardstock with a zig zag stitch. I also sewed the ruffled paper at the bottom of the card. I added a bit of bling to hide the stitching and add a little sparkle. I scored the handmade rosette and distressed the edges. I used a chipboard book plate to adorn the center of the rosette with some pink brads. The mulberry paper flower in the upper left corner has a beautiful rose pearl metal brad to finish off the card. Here are a few extra closeups.

First off I would like to give credit to whom it is due. Patti at Scappinings shared this beautiful template with me which she drew and then made a mini which was my source of  inspiration. You can watch her YouTube video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs10kdCqa90 and visit her blog http://scrap-happinings.blogspot.com

This template is beautiful. I used some gorgeous K & CO paper (Specialty Handmade ) and then I raided my stash of laces, ribbon, flowers and all things vintage. I kept the embellishments simple as not to take away from the papers. I used a lot of flowers and made areas underneath to insert tags. I distressed all the tags and used images from the internet.

On this first page I used some Prima ribbon for the trim, Basic Grey pearl flourishes, Jolee’s Flourish Stickers and Tim Holtz Sprocket gears to which I added some bling.

This last page I happen to be quite proud of.  I stamped and embossed with gold in a french script on the whole back so it would peek through the lacing on the back. I laid out where to punch the wholes and inserted black eyelets. I laced down the back with some ivory satin ribbon and tied a bow. Trimmed around the edges is a cream ribbon by Jolee’s. I finished off the back with a beautiful flower and tulle.

Thank you for stopping by and have a happy Wednesday!

Lately, I have been so caught up in all my fun projects that I have completly forgotten to scrap my boys. They are growing so fast and when I stopped to look back it has been 6 months since I have scrapped my oldest son. Of course I am keeping up with my youngest since they make so many changes between 0-12 months. Instead of devoting a whole mini to each I took a few pictures from this month and made a small mini. I think it is the perfect size.

I recently bought my big shot sizzix machine on a whim. I am usually a great bargin shopper and I hate to spent money and full price at that. I ALWAYS buy on sale. I got my sixxiz for $59.99 at Joanns plus two on the edge dies and the tattered floral die with free shipping all for $110.  I thought it was an awesome deal. At first I had a little regret because I have a cricut and I wondered why I bought another expensive machine that does the same thing but I was wrong. They are totally different. I LOVE my Sizzix.

So, I used the File folder on the edge die by Tim Holtz to make my pages. Love it! I used up the last of my Black and Ivory paper collection by K & CO. It is a beautiful collection that I have used for a wedding mini, a valentine and a boys mini. Very versitile patterned paper. I kept the colors to a minimum of greens and teals. I think it was just enough to add a bit of interest to the eye but keep the focus on the photos. I layered a lot of embellishments, lace and flowers (Yes, I use flowers on a boy’s album). I am becoming quite the fan of layering. It takes a bit more work but I find it pleases my eye so much more than single layers. It also helps to fill negative space. So, here are the pages to the mini and I hope you enjoy!

Another altered Canvas

Here is the last of my altered canvases from Christmas. This one is for my aunt. Since these are such quick projects I was able to complete this in a whole afternoon and with limited resources. I was out of so many embellishments so I had to really dig in my craft room to find supplies that I have been hoarding. I tend to do that with my favorite papers and embellishments. I prefer to take them out and stare for a bit and imagine how perfect they would make my projects and then I return them to their spot on the shelf.  I have really made an effort as of late to make myself use them. Besides, it gives me a reason to have to go shopping. Anyway,  I used chipboard flourishes that I got at an awesome deal from Tuesday Morning. They came in handy to tie together all my stray flowers. I chose the neutral color scheme because my Aunt decorates her home with mostly neutrals and blue. The Canvas reminds me of a flowering garden in spring. I love having flowers all over, but then again, I LOVE flowers!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed Sunday.

Valentine Wall Hangings

So, it has been a while. Finally got my internet back so now I can post. Yeah!

I had some left over chipboard so I cut it down to smaller sizes. I wanted to try something new so I printed out some beautiful ephemera and set to work with my laces and flowers. I am such a Scrooge with my artwork. It is so hard for me to give it up. I was talking to my best friend last week and she mentioned in passing that I was so generous to give all my creations away. I felt bad because I don’t give projects away unless I am specifically making them for that purpose. I have since decided to give away everything that I make that is not containing pictures of my family. So, here are my first few giveaways to friends just because I love them.

This was inspired by a very special friend.  She loves vintage and is an artist, designer and genius. I love the beautiful lady with the black and ivory paper.

This sweet little valentine is for an amazing lady in our church. She has a beautiful and generous heart and is a fellow crafter. The tag is a picture of a French couple dancing. They look so in love.

I made this wall hanging for a dear couple in our church that are moving away due some serious health issues. I thought this verse was so appropriate to remind them to rely on Christ during this difficult times. It is such a comforting passage of Scripture to know that all we have to do is trust Christ instead of worring about unchangable  circumstances.

Thank you for reading and have a great weekend.

Here is my youtube video if you want to check it out!
