One thing that has been on my to-do list is this Prima Ustream Show. I love the style of the artist that  presents this class. It was the perfect mojo- booster. Prima has a lot of awesome classes all recorded in YouTube. Since I do not own a lot of Prima products I just improvise and use whatever I have in my craft room.

image

I forget that there are so many free classes available. For me it is just taking the time to sit down and play along as I watch.

Well, I am off to get food for my tribe. Our power is still out from the terrible lightning storms we had last night here in New York. PB&J is quickly becoming my best friend.

Today is the day I get to share my e-book project for Pink Persimmon. I will just share the photos. For the tutorial on this project you will have to go to the Website and sign up for the free newsletter. You will then be able to download the ebook with this tutorial plus all the tutorials for the Christmas projects by the creative team.
So, I started out with this tool box I saved from the trash bin. My boys were done playing with it so I thought it would be perfect for altering. Here is the front view.

As I said, you can see step by step for this project by downloading the free e-book. I hope you enjoy the tutorial.

Happy Thursday and Welcome! Play along with our Blog hop and you could win this featured stamp. Itsn’t it adorable?!! Love how it ties in perfectly with the vintage theme.
I made a shadow box door hanger from an old Bible box. I started out by gessoing and then painting a coat of light blue. I covered the inside bottom and edges with some lightweight, tightly woven fabric which has been backed with paper. I then painted and distress embossed some corrigated cardboard and grungeboard flourishes for more texture. Mulberry paper and a gold sheer fabric have also been worked into the background.

image

I made a few of the flowers and sprayed the the rest with coordinating vintage colors. The leaves have been die cut using the same textured fabric as on the edges. The main image has been stamped, distressed and covered in rock candy crackle paint. The outer edges have been stamped and distressed with brown paint. I used a die cut decorative border around the outside so the box isn’t a plain rectangle.

Hello everyone!
Thank you for stopping by this Thursday. This months theme over at Red Rubber Designs is Fall. Today I have a fall door hanger that features the stamp set ‘Every Leaf’. I used RRD paper for my background and flowers. I layered the leaves under the flowers to create depth.

image

Each blog on the RRD hop (except the Red Rubber Designs Blog) has one word that will complete a phrase somewhere in their blog hop post. Once you find all six words (that’s a hint!) put them together to form a phrase. You may have to rearrange them a little bit!

Note: The word you need from each blog will be obvious if you read carefully…. it looks just a little different from the rest of the letters!

Once you figure it out, email the phrase to contest@RedRubberDesigns.com and be sure to put your name and email address in the email with the phrase. Every correct answer will be entered into a drawing for the featured stamp set – “Every Leaf” – and one winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!

Contest ends Sunday, July 8th at Midnight (US-CDT).

It is difficult to know what to give my hubby for Father’s Day. We are not big on gifts for these sorts of holidays. That is why I want to give a more personal, homemade gift. I made this little shadow box for his office at work.

image

Everything is made from cardstock. The paper stack I used is Perfect Gentleman by Graphic 45. I had the papers adhered to my background but of course I couldn’t leave it plain so I added some gesso, green paints and some Tim Holtz stamps for texture.

image

I cut out all the images and embellished with masculine/Tim
Holtz.

image

image

I would like to enter this in My Monthly Mojo. The theme this month is ‘Man Up’. I love masculine themes. As I said my inspiration for this project was my hubby. I love all the amazingly, embellished configuration boxes that I have seen of late in blogland. I don’t own any configuration boxes but I figured making one of my own would be a great improvision. I sure hope he likes it. Thank you for looking. Also, I would like to thank you all for your very kind comments as of late. They are so encouraging.

I have a bunting/banner to share. I created this for a surprise party I will be attending this weekend. The party is for a friend turning 85. He loves antique cars. I found a way to incorporate one picture onto each pendant. I used the design paper to make large rosettes. I did add a little paint, gesso and stamping to the pendant. What can I say? I am addicted! I’ll post each pendant below so you can take a closer look.

Altered CD Coasters

image

Happy Monday! Today I have an easy project that anyone should be able to do. I made these over a year ago but have not shared them previously.

image

First, I started off with old cd’s that were headed for the trash. I covered each one front and back with paper using mod podge as my adhesive. Hot glue with not adhere to the cd. I used up scraps and pictures by mod podging them on top. Make sure you cover everything well with mod podge because the tops will surely get wet from condensation. I made mine fairly flat because we use them as drink coasters on my dining room table. I love showing off pictures of my boys when people come to our home to eat.
Hope you try this fun project. I would love to see what you come up with.
Later,
Kate

Just a little dollar store box that I altered the other night. I used Melissa Frances 5th Avenue paper on the box and on the inside. I then painted over it with turquoise paper and stamped over that with script. The stamp on the front is by Lynne Perrella. Beautiful isn’t she? I have been dying to use it since I bought it a a few months ago but I just could not find the right project. I think it fits perfectly here. The roses are from the paper collection and cut out with the tattered pinecone die. The rose trim is sprayed with Lindy’s.

image

I cut up the paper to make the banner and the lovely ladies. Those gorgeous tea cups are by Spellbinder’s. I just borrowed them from a special friend. She didn’t even get to play with them before she lent them to me so I  decided to make this little box for her.

image

Some close ups of each section. These boxes work great as shadow boxes.

I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend here in the US. How thankful I am for all those serving our country so that we might be free.

Mother’s Day Magnets

image

Every year I try to send the Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers a magnet for their refrigerator with a picture of the boys. This year I decided to skip printing the magnets and decided to make tags with magnets on the backside.
I used paper from Calico Studios. The background stamp, bee and sentiment are by Red Rubber Designs. I used Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2 for the decorative tag. I finished it off by adding a note and strip of magnet on the back. It is pretty simple so that I could ship it easily.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous evening. I am looking forward to birthday celebrations with family this evening.

I modge podged on some papers into the background and painted with gesso and various acrylic paints. I stamped the background and heat embossed a few patriotic phrases.

image

My focal stamp has been watercolored. Various vintage laces have been sprayed and layered. I also added some paper roses. All of these products can be found at the Red Rubber Designs Store.

I decided to try my hand at my first altered bottle. I think I need a lot more practice perhaps a altered bottle workshop will do.
So I am entering this in the Alpha Stamps ‘Think Pink’ fB contest. It requires me to use one Alpha Stamps product and something pink. I used their digital image and several trims. Also, I used flowers from I Am Roses. I am going to enter it in their ‘April Showers’ contest as well.

image

I used lots of paint, book paper and some patterened paper. The script stamp is by Red Rubber Designs.

image

Well, thats about it for today. I am feeling mojo less. I am hoping I have more luck tomorrow.

I am now in the habit of rethinking what I throw away. I love saving and repurposing items. I have a difficult time throwing things away in general because I hate waste. My boys received the above wooden garage for Christmas several years ago but had grown out of it. I decided to put it away in my craft room closet until I could find further use for it.
About a month ago I started altering it but put it away until I got some mojo. I used the cool foil technique on the front. I love trying new things.

image

So here is how it turned out. How do you like it? I used lots of my favorite steampunkish stamps and repurposed items such as the bottle cap and dominos. If you have any questions let me know. Otherwise, I will just skip over the details and let you enjoy the pics.

image

image

Does it make you think about what is lying around unused in your child’s room? Keep an eye out for unusual shapes and compartmentalized toys. One more pic to leave you with.

Hello everyone, just a quick share today. I had a small amount of time this afternoon so I decided to put together a few brown paper bag door hangers. I used Graphic 45′s Springtime paper along with a doily and a Tim Holtz image and words. I used gesso, paint and stamping on the background. The roses and needles are from Tim’s pinecone die.

image

I used the same materials and techniques on this bag as well with a few variations. I sprayed some I Am Roses with Lindy’s and added some vintage button centers and lace. I hope you enjoy looking.

Today I want to share my entry for the I Am Roses Color Challenge . The theme was to use green, gold and glitter. I have been wanting to make a spring door decoration so here is my spring door cone.
I had so much fun with this. I used Websters Pages paper for my cone base. I traced a dinner plate and glued it together in the shape of a cone. I then attached a piece of WP vellum and painted my cone in various shades of green. I stamped in black using a postage mark and script.

image

The challenge was to use IAR products. I used the large curly white roses, white curly petaled gardenias, and small green leaves. I also threw in some white Prima flowers I had laying around for fillers. My stash of IAR is running low. I sprayed all the flowers with gold and green glimmer sprays, which makes everything shimmery and pretty. I stamped script on the IAR gardenia petals, layered them and added a pearl. I attached the flowers and leaves with hot glue. I added pearls, vintage lace, german scrap and a Tim Holtz bauble with tassel and a ribbon.
I stuffed the inside of the cone with vintage print brown paper bags. I printed put a adorable pair of children as my main image. The log rolled paper is cardstock which has been collaged with book paper, sprayed and distressed.
Lastly, I used my remaining gardenia petals on a branch to look like cherry blossoms. They have bling centers. I stamped and layered several butterflys that have been sprayed green and inked with rusty hinge.
Well, I think that just about covers what I did. Let me know if you have questions. I hope you try one. They are so easy and fun to make. Here is a picture of it hanging on my front door.

I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures.
