Sad Boy Card

image

Hello everyone! I have a simple card to show you today. I used another image from Land of Nod Studio’s . I had some butterfly stickers sitting around for a while. I.used one to give him wings.
My background was made with the wood grain Crafters Workshop stencil and Lindy’s spray. I distress inked the edges and stamped the background with Glitz stamps. I chose to leave it without embellishments because I love this image standing alone.
I got to spend a whole day with my little men today. I usually work Saturdays so it was so nice to relax. I even have had time to craft. I have several projects in the works but I cannot share till next week sometime. Hope you are enjoying the crazy weather. It was snowing this morning. There goes my plants…
Later,
Kate

I am so happy to have had the time to create today. Yes, I know its another tag. I just can’t stop myself. When I cut cardstock for one tag I use the remaining as well so I end up with three blank tags sitting on my desk. I can’t leave them blank can I?
I used my new Christy Tomlinson doily stencil in the background which you can hardly see. The next layer was a Christy Tomlinson stamp. I then used more sprays, stamps and gesso. I love this image from Land of Nod . Because of the wild looking background I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum ( I know, I usually deck it out) and focus on the photo. I used a My Minds Eye stamp set as my embellishments and distress inked in various colors. Some are on pop dots. My photo is on top of a Spellbinders lacey square die.
I think that about sums it up. I would like to enter this tag in the following challenges:
Gingersnap Creations - rust/copper color
Funky &Frilly – Your Favorite Vintage Style
Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting!

Hello everyone,
A special welcome to my new followers. Thank you for taking the time to come and look. Here is a page in my altered book. First time in a while I have had to work on it. I photographed the layout seperatly because the book is getting too bulky for a good shot. For this page I used G45 ‘Proper Gentleman’ papers although they are covered up a lot. Gesso, paint, sprays and acrylic gears were used along with a image of a steampunk gentleman.

image

I used a lot of steampunk stamps and clip art on this page. Trying to use up what I have in my stash. More gesso and paint to add texture.
Well, that all for today. I have been feeling a little stressed lately so this is a short post.
Later,
Kate

Today I wanted to use this adorable little vintage man from  Land of Nod Studios. I just found their blog and did you know they offer freebie images on Friday? This is one of their amazing images. I love that he is vintage but touched up with vibrant colors. Such a old looking boy qualifies for the last century over at Gingersnap Creations.
To start, I used Prima paper as my background and added some gesso and stamping for texture. I used stamps from Seven Gypsies, Glitz designs, Crafty Secrets and Girl’s Paperie. The bird allows me to enter this in Sunday Stamper . I layered the bird with a butterfly wing, crown and some bling all on top of a ticket. I love these Seven Gypsies hot air balloons. I distressed them both in multiple colors and added pop dots to one. Since this is a tag, I would like to enter it in  Simon Says Stamp and Show…a tag.
Thank you for looking. This style feels a bit out of my norm but I like it. I am trying to train myself to use more stamps throughout my projects. Goodness knows I have so many lonely ones. It seems like I always reach for the ones on my desk or my favorites. Try making something this week using those unused stamps. Maybe you will find some new favorites.

Who knew that metal tins could be so fun!! As this was my first altered tin it was a bit of trial and error. Definatly a try again project. I may be one of those crazy people that buys 100 tins off ebay.

image

Any who, I used the DCWV ‘Once Upon A Time’ paper stack. Beautiful but no longer lonely. I think I have had that stack for two years. I gessoed and painted over the paper in areas and did some stamping. A image of two vintage girls from Marie Antoinette time period. The wheels are spools and inside the tin are some glass cloisenne beads, stretchy webbing, a grunge key, butterfly, a sprayed gardenia with a vintage button center and some stamping layered on top a spellbinders motiff. On top I added a grungeboard flourish to the back of a bottle cap, housing a butterfly.

Hope you like! Thank you for all of your kind comments as of late. Enjoy your weekend!

Well, I have been having a grand ole time in my lair altering a tin this afternoon. I have never attempted a tin before but I like to try new things. I made a few major boo boos but the best thing about art… almost any mistake can be covered up with a little bit of paper and paint. Hopefully, I’ll be sharing that soon.
Onto today’s tag. I am playing along with the challenge over at Dragon’s Dream Tag It On . The theme is ‘The Thorn Bird.’  Basically, you can do anything related to the storyline such as Austraila, the Outback, adventure… So, when I think of these topics I picture a lovely lady travelling on a safari through the African desert with her gentleman companions, in an old antique jeep. Parasol in hand, she studies all the wild animals outside her window.
I am not much of a writer but just trying to get you to see where I am coming from.
I sprayed my backgrounds with Lindy’s, stamped the large stamp and then cut out the lady and raised her with pop dots. The lace has been sprayed as well as all the animals. The butterflies are layered with pop dots as well. Here is a side view to show off the layers.

Take care,
Kate

The weather is gorgeous here in New York state. I am wearing my sun dress and flip flops all around! Hoping this stays but I am a bit afraid of how hot our summer is going to be. I am not a fan of heat and humidity. Just sunshine with cool breezes.
Today I would like to share a accordian tag. I struggled over the weekend to create. I sat down and stared and fiddled around a bit but not much of profit came to be. Thankfully, that is over. So, I distressed my tags with three shades of DI and then stamped with various stamps creating my own background. I used several lonely stamp sets that I love but have neglected. The Girls Paperie and Glitz Designs are the majority of the stamps. I did a lot of layering, stamping, spraying and inking. I added some lace and ribbon as well.
Thank you for looking and enjoy the sunshine if you have it!

Grungy Monday 39

image

Today’s tag is for Grungy Monday using Tim Holtz‘s  technique with alcohol ink. This one was a bit of a challenge for me. I only own these three colors of alcohol ink. I suppose I could have chosen a better stamp for my central image but I do so love the geishia. I added a few flourishes to the edges, inked the tag base with peeled paint and added some hemp and a chinese coin. I would like to try this again with some different color inks. I learned that its good to try new techniques even if it is not my best work. Not everything I touch will turn out pretty. Sad but true. Perhaps practice is the key. Thank you for stopping by.

Good morning, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all who celebrate. First off, this fine morning, I would like to thank all my kind followers who shared their thoughts and well wishes for my mojo-less period. After reading all your comments it assured me and encouraged me. Yesterday, I spent hours cleaning my craft room. Sometimes I think a lack of mojo might just be a dirty or untidy space. I struggle to work in that atmosphere. So, I cleaned and was already to create a master piece and instead I spent the evening sick in the bathroom and went to bed at 9pm. I layed in bed all night still sick and unable to sleep. Unfortunatly, that may upset my crafting time this afternoon. I’ll probably be too exausted to keep my head up.
Ok, on to the project. I created this tag book Thursday night but waited until yesterday to photograph. Its been raining for three days so there is no extra sparkle to the pics.
I started off with 12×12 chipboard and cut it in half for my covers yielding two 6×12’s. I covered, inked and added a border to the outside edges. For the center accordian fold I took a plain 12×12 piece of cardstock and scored at every inch using a scoreboard. I fan folded the paper and then attached the two outer folds to the covers with hot glue. The accordian is now attached but not complete.  Turn the book over with covers and outside spine facing up. Place a bead of glue inside each fold and squeeze folds together. This should complete the book. Here is a picture of the completed inside.

image

And a close-up of the front.

image

You can now add your tags to the inside folds! But I warn you, if you create chunky tags like me you might never get this book to completely close again. Good luck.

Steampunk Card

image

Steampunk is another one of those recent addicting trends. I find my self reaching for these stamps time and time again.
Here is a card I made using left over scrap paper for the background. The stamps are from Artistic Outpost. Aren’t they amazing?
I think I am running out of mojo. Wish me luck as I will have time to craft this weekend. It always seems like inspiration comes when I don’t have the time to craft and leaves when I can. Does that ever happen to you? Wishing my mojo tank  was endless just about now.  What do you do for a inspiration recharge?
Hoping to be back again soon,
Kate

Hello everyone, just a quick share today. I had a small amount of time this afternoon so I decided to put together a few brown paper bag door hangers. I used Graphic 45’s Springtime paper along with a doily and a Tim Holtz image and words. I used gesso, paint and stamping on the background. The roses and needles are from Tim’s pinecone die.

image

I used the same materials and techniques on this bag as well with a few variations. I sprayed some I Am Roses with Lindy’s and added some vintage button centers and lace. I hope you enjoy looking.

Today I was able to complete a project that has been sitting on my shelf half finished. Previously, I covered the cigar box with vintage newsprint bags and Tim Holtz paper. I left it there for about 7 months.
The other day I pulled it out and decided to work on a shadow box that I knew would put me out of my comfort zone. I love dimention but it is not really my thing. I used gesso and a baby blue to cover up some of the paper along with some Lindy’s sprays to add drippage.

image

The inside cover of the box has a image by French Kissed . The little girl is beautiful and I love the subtle colors added to her hat and flowers. I gave her some grungeboard wings sprayed with  Lindy’s Stamp Gang. Vintage lace has also been sprayed and added below the image.

image

The box has a lot more detail. I took some TH paper and stitched it to burlap. More vintage lace is layered and sprayed in several colors of Lindy’s. I made a small shadow box from TH paper. I covered the sides in TH tissue tape. On the inside I layered some punch out borders which have been sprayed and machine stitched together. On top I added a TH fragment doll. Stamped butterfly wings and bling accent the doll. The bottom of the box has sprayed gauze, a vintage girl with flowers, grungeboard flourishes and TH pinecone flowers. I used a TH bottle which was inked in green, rock candied, and an embellished bottle cap. Another grunge flourish and pinecone flowers are attached to the top left side to add some visual interest.
I am entering this box in the challenge over at  My Monthly Mojo. The theme is vintage vibes. I was inspired by the many amazing artist out there that make beautiful shadow boxes and shrines. I love vintage and cannot get enough of it. I love when I complete a piece of art that is better than anything else I have ever made. I love learning and growing. That is one reason I love challenges. They give me a reason to get out of my box and just create for fun.
Well, I want to thank you all for your kind comments as of late and wish you an inspiring evening.

Vintage Easter Tags

image

Happy Sunday! A few tags that I put together this afternoon. I used Tim’s Easter images from the seasonal stack. My friend was kind enough to share half of her page with me. The first tag I sprayed with Lindy’s, stamped with TH’s script, and sprayed the vintage lace green. The rose is cut from the TH tattered pinecone die.

image

The background on this second tag has been sprayed and stamped as well. I added some tissue tape, german scrap, a TH word sticker, and tattered pinecone roses and leaves. I love these vintage images. I know my colors are not very ‘springish’ but I couldn’t help myself. Grunge just called to me today.

I would love to enter more challenges but I would rather make one piece that qualifies for several so I am not stressed out. I got organized this week and made this tag to enter in several challenges, so here goes.
I made the little mosaic heart from  Tim Holtz’s technique on his March tag. My background was made using a resist technique from one of Tim’s tags from 2007. This was the challenge over at this weeks  Grungy Monday . I stamped clocks in the background over the resist and added a transparency which has been lying around in my room for over a year. The inspiration of my Alice came from Frankie’s gorgeous tag over at Dragon’s Dream Tag It On Challenge . Seriously, you must look at her amazing tag. My stamp was cut out, sprayed in gold and layered with a green crown.
Since the majority of my tag is green I would also like to enter it in the Inspiration Emporium Color Challenge . I just received my shipment of sprays so I used all my new colors on this tag. The clock is a Wendy Vecci art part. So vintage and dimentional. I sprayed some flowers, added a vial of tea, and stamped a vintage type background to the clock.
Well, I better go start dinner. Have a fabulous Thursday evening and thank you for taking the time to stop by.

One of my goals this year is to be involved in more challenges. This layout is the Prima Build a Page layout for March. Recently, I bought a very large pad of Prima paper and discontinued flowers at Tuesday Morning so I was able to participate in this challenge.

image

The picture is my youngest son from last summer. In the spirit of St. Patty’s Day I kept with the green theme and added some orange. I love my color sprays. I just ordered more so beware…some new bold colors will be emerging soon! I can’t help it. I am in love with color.       So, I put a banner in the lower left corner and I added some ribbon and metal embellishments throughout. And then I sprayed away! It is really quite fun.
I just want to thank everyone for your kind comments. It is encouraging to hear from everyone.
Kate
