I am loving my new grunge canvas now hanging in my dining room. I had so much fun. My inspiration came from the talented Tonya Gibbs (YT:Psychomoms). She made an awesome canvas and I was dying to make myself one. When she announced her giveaway I decided I had a reason to start a canvas. At first I just starred at the canvas for a while but after watching Tonya’s video again I got my mojo and went crazy! Thanks Tonya for sharing your talent! Check out her giveaway.
Second, I decided to enter my first Grungy Monday at L3 Studio. I am so in love with Tim as of late. I have been visiting so many blogs as of late dedicated to Tim and his grunge style. I love that this canvas is ALL Tim! The challenge was to use Rock Candy Crackle Paint. Check out his blog here. So I used this awesome crackle paint on  the advertisements on the right shadow box and on the fracture doll (made with my clay mold). I then distressed in the cracks with walnut stain distress ink to make it a bit older looking. I used lots of Lindys Stamp Gang as well. As you can see I used of Ideaology products. Well, thats about it. Thanks for stopping by.

Don’t you just love Websters Pages prints? These papers just take you back on time. I have such a difficult time working with their papers because I do not want to cover them up. This beautiful collection, Wonderfall, has designs of children playing summer activties, scenes of home and fall bouquets. I made this mini for a swap at Lil Scra of Heaven for the month of July. I used my two newly purchased stamp sets to embellish… Hot of the Press: Vintage Ladies and Crafty Secrets: Sweet Stuff.
Hope this puts you in the mood for fall, it does me. I am about done in with this heat and humidity. Enjoy your evening!

Cindy over at LSH is having a shadow box challenge. I had the shell of this box lying around my scrap area for a good couple of months. I was planning on using it as a Christmas gift and thought I would get a head start with the construction.  The paper line is by Anna Griffin. The colors and patterns are perfect to display summer photographs. I am not sure who will be receiving it as a Christmas gift but I suppose there is plenty of time to figure that out.
So, for those of you who might have read my previous post on my Graphic 45 Shadow Box, I explained that the construction of the box was based on a technique by Kathy Orta. It is really easy and the end result is rewarding. I would like to experiment with the box shapes now that I have already made two. This technique would be great for a special occasion box. Hope you like this project. Why not go make one of your own now?

I Love Tim

I love everything that I see having to do with Tim Holtz products and his techniques. I am far from the first gal to adore him. I just recently joined the yahoo group ‘ All Things Tim’ where everyone there is dedicated to Tim.
So I have always loved his work but I have never taken the time or effort to try and recreate it. I have spent a lot of time this month reading some very inspirational blogs. All of them devoted followers of Tim. The works of art are amazing and very much grunge. I love this ‘grunge’ style so now I have a new style to play with and attempt to conquer. I am looking forward to learning some new techniques. I have no doubt this style will prove useful in my household of men.
Without further ramblings, I give you my first real grunge piece using all things by Tim.
The background was clear embossed using Oxford Impressions stamps, French Script (my favorite set). I then distressed inked the background in three different colors. I then just added metal embellishments by TH, ruffled up tissue tape and some stamped out images from the TH Haberdashery stamp set. I have seen some amazing artwork out there and I am only starting to scratch the surface but I kinda of like this tag, seeing it is my first.
   Have a wonderful week.
Kate
